The grade 4 curriculum has a sculptural focus with an emphasis in clay. This year we made German inspired breakfast sets. Each of the three pieces had to function as a food/liquid utensil and still stay true to their artistic form. Each student created a cup, egg cup and plate. Themes unified the three pieces in colour, shape and design. Clay techniques used to create these pieces were: cup-coil, egg cup-pinch & plate-slab.
Self-reflections were completed at various stages showcasing student work and reflecting on their experience throughout this very involved and challenging unit.
All six fourth grade classes enjoyed a breakfast feast in the cafeteria with their three pieces. Head over to the gallery for more photos!
